Category Manager Soups

Job:Bring together the vision / strategy of Continental Foods Belgium with the vision / strategy of the customer in order to reach a win-win situation:  make the "Soup" category grow to defend and strengthen the position of Continental Foods Belgium.

Core Duties:

Coordination of market information from data panels for Soup category:

a. Nielsen data:

- Responsible for the day to day data availability & analyses, including data quality checks

- Ad hoc analyses and development of new standard reports where needed, in collaboration with sales & marketing colleagues

- Follow up of the broader scope, total food & total groceries to track our category performance versus the total shop environment

b. GFK data:

- Manage day to day data availability & quality of standard reports

- Assist CCID manager in briefing & follow-up of analyses

- Coach colleagues in the use of GfK KPIs

- Follow up on evolution of shopper and retailer behavior in total food in order to keep the broad picture in mind

- Analyses of panel data in collaboration with sales & marketing colleagues related to client business reviews, category reviews, or season evaluation.

- Participation in business reviews at main retailers.

- Monthly panel data analyses for marketing MBR preparation

- Provide input data for Finance topline market share reporting

- Tracking of brand objectives based on Nielsen & GfK KPIs

Promotion monitoring

- Maintain & optimize internal tool for incremental calculations, based on baseline data

- Analyze promotions in function of incremental sales and ROI in collaboration with trade marketing managers

- Use the learnings to make recommendations for future promotions in collaboration with trade marketing managers

- Follow-up of promotions of competition in Soup at main retailers

Shopper behavior in our categories

- Assist in preparation of shopper research for Soup category, in collaboration with CCID manager

- Interpretation of shopper learnings and link to action plan in terms of category organization & planogram

Analysis of retailer data related to special projects

Set up of shelving proposals for key customers, based on category & shopper insights

Coordination of retailer direct mailing programs (when applicable)

- Prioritization based on marketing objectives, retailer shopper profiles & availability of retailer tools

- Coordination of action set-up

- Analyses of results & conclusions; development of best practices

Provide input for trade press concerning our categories, in collaboration with marketers

Collaboration within the Commercial Development team to function as a ‘knowledge center’ for all shopper related issues

Experience: A solid experience developed both in panel and ad hoc researches, using large diversity of Market Research Qualitative & Quantitative Tools

Personal qualities and skills:

  • Preferred education: master in economics

  • Strong empathic and relational skills, service minded

  • internal towards Sales & Marketing department

  • External: buyers and marketeers of retailers, project managers, accounts of data suppliers, planogram managers, shop managers, chefs de rayon;

  • Negotiation- and presentation skills, cost conscious

  • Experience in a commercial environment

  • Strong competences in excel, powerpoint, database applications

  • Knowledge of Catmantools

  • Marketing Basics (incl Research)

  • Strong drive to tackle hurdles and find alternatives in order to reach company goals

  • Strong analytic and financial knowledge

  • Entrepreneurial spirit, autonomous, able to take initiatives and decision

  • Stress resistent, level-headed

  • Fluent in French, Dutch and English
